Section 3: Supplemental (Non-Vancany Specific) Recruitment Activities Undertaken

Time Period Covered: December 2, 2008 to December 1, 2009

Stations in Employment Unit: WOOF(AM) and WOOF-FM

1.                  Career/Job Fair participation.

Troy University-Dothan Campus 2009 Career Day

The job fair was held on 2-12-2009 from 9a-12noon in Malone Hall at Troy University-Dothan.

John Houston represented On-air and Production.  Deborah Pearson represented News.  Hal Edwards represented Sales and Management.  Through this career fair we received 13 resumes and 7 applications.

2.        Tours of Broadcast Facilities.

Throughout the year we conduct numerous tours of our facility and explain what careers are available in broadcasting.  Those who participate in our tours are Scouts, clubs, individuals and schools.  Examples of such tours were: 1.) on 1/26/09 Cub Pack 38 in which we welcomed 20 cub scouts and their parents under the leadership of Katherine Davis. 2.) on 5/19/09 Den 8 and Den 3 with 15 cub scouts and their parents.

   3.          On-going Internship Programs and new Internships Programs

In May 2007 Rehobeth High School student Rachel Hannon began her on-going internship at WOOF.  She has learned about the on-air, sales, traffic, promotional, mascotting, public service, remotes, clerical and news aspects of broadcasting.  She now is a board operator, a fill-in receptionist and mascot at WOOF.  Rachel is a senior this year and will be heading off to Florida State to pursue a career in music.  We are really going to miss her.

From May 2009 to July 2009 Troy University Senior Lyle Bain interned at WOOF.  The internship was a requirement towards completing his degree in Broadcast Journalism in December 2009.   Lyle learned about promotions, news, on-air, remotes, traffic, production, and sales.  I think the 2 events that will remain most in his mind is when he participated in the drawing for $10,000 in our Spring 10K giveaway and for being a part of the 6 hour

live tribute to Michael Jackson on the night of his passing.

In September 2009 Bradby White III, originally from Detroit, now living in Dothan, came to us to participate in an internship.  While in Detroit Bradby

had been taking college Broadcasting courses on-line but unfortunately the

school closed.  Bradby has a dream of being an NFL play-by-play sportscaster.  Since September Bradby has been learning about all aspects of radio, learning about news, on-air, sales, production, promotions, and traffic.

Bradby is learning how to be a board operator and under the guidance of the voice of high school football and basketball on the Ball, Taylor Barbaree, Bradby has even done live from the field reporting.

This year has truly been a blessing in which the WOOF staff has been able to share our careers with 3 such outstanding young people.

      4.         On Air employment outreach

On air EEO statement and invitation to file an application with WOOF Inc.

for Future employment with our company, professionally voiced by our

station imaging person, Randy Reeves, aired 832 times.

       5.        Our websites, woofradio.com and 997wooffm.com

In all times other than during specific opening hiring periods we post our

EEO statement and invitation to submit an application with WOOF Inc. to

have on file for future employment opportunities with our company.  We also

post the gender and racial composition of our staff.  We are very proud of our

diversity and we feel this would be a very attractive reason for job seekers to

want to be a part of our staff in the future.
