So the Upset Special of the Year was correct, as Johnny Manziel and Texas A&M may have cost Alabama the national title. That one took so much of the crystal ball’s brain power away though, it missed Missouri’s overtime win over mail-it-in Tennessee and the Ole Miss collapse against Vandy. Season’s totals are 69-11.
SAMFORD AT KENTUCKY – Never can tell how a team will play for a lame-duck coach, but we know how well a Pat Sullivan-coached team will be prepared. Close, but Joker gets one more win.
Kentucky by 3.
WOFFORD AT SOUTH CAROLINA – Some wise guy once said Wofford’s biggest rival was Converse College, an all-girls school just around the corner. It’ll seem that way against South Carolina as the Gamecocks warm up for Clemson.
Carolina by 24.
JAX STATE AT FLORIDA – Anybody see how honestly close Florida came to losing to Louisiana-Lafayette last week? Suddenly, the Gators don’t have an offense. Shouldn't’t need much of one against Jack Crowe’s crew.
Florida by 20.
SYRACUSE AT MISSOURI – Two bad teams going head to head here. Just be thankful you don’t have to sit through it, cause Columbia isn't that fun on a weekend.
Mizzou by 4.
TENNESSEE AT VANDY – Hope Sal Sunseri has enjoyed his season as defensive coordinator in Knoxville. He won’t be one in the SEC again. See ya Derrick Dooley.
Vandy by 7.
SAM HOUSTON AT TEXAS A&M – Who in their right mind would want to play the Aggies right now? They should be undefeated but blew double-digit leads against Florida and LSU. Not today.
Texas A&M by 27.
OLE MISS AT LSU – A listener to my radio show pointed out Hugh Freeze was the real-life prep coach of Michael Oher of “The Blind Side” motion picture. Much improved, but not quite ready for the Bengal Tigers in Baton Rouge.
LSU by 7.
GEORGIA SOU. AT GEORGIA – The Bulldogs have to deal with the confounding option in this one and next week against Georgia Tech, leaving little time to peak ahead to Alabama. First things first, as ‘Bama learned last year.
Georgia by 13.
ALABAMA A&M AT AUBURN – Yes, it really could happen. Wonder how much “evaluating” would be required then?
Auburn by 11.
WESTERN CAROLINA AT ALABAMA – No, it really can’t happen. The Tide in effect gets three weeks to get ready for the SEC title game. Not much to learn from this one.
Alabama by 35.
ARKANSAS ST. AT TROY – Gus Malzahn has a good ballclub. Troy’s good too, on offense that is. Not enough to handle this tough customer but should provide plenty of thrills.
